Belfast News Letter
The News Letter is a major daily newspaper in Northern Ireland, issued from Monday to Saturday. It holds the distinction of being the oldest continuously published English language daily, having first appeared in 1737. While the paper initially had a republican viewpoint, it has shifted to a strong unionist perspective over time. Its main rivals include the Belfast Telegraph and the Irish News. The News Letter has undergone several ownership changes since the mid-1990s and has been part of Johnston Press, now known as Johnston Publishing (NI), since 2005. Although its full name is the Belfast News Letter, the word "Belfast" is no longer featured on its masthead.
