    The BBC has begun a trial to establish how well its approach to low latency streaming performs in viewers’ homes. Over the next few weeks, viewers on selected devices that have opted into iPlayer’s ‘beta’ mode may see an experimental low latency stream of BBC Two when watching live on iPlayer. In a blog post Lead R&D engineer Chris Poole explained that while the delay on TV streamed over the internet had been significantly reduced, it was still around 40 seconds behind a traditional broadcast.

    Warner Bros Discovery shareholders have voted against a $51.9 million compensation package awarded to chief executive David Zaslav and his senior leadership team. The vote by 80% of shareholders is seen as a rebuke to Zaslav and the performance of the company, though is non-binding, meaning that Zaslav and his colleagues will likely receive their proposed packages in full. The data from Barb’s Establishment Survey shows 20.1 million UK homes (67.5%) had access to a subscription video-on-demand (SVOD) service in Q1 2025. This is a slight increase from 20 million UK homes in Q4 2024.
