    SAN ANGELO – The Bangs Lady Dragons completed a Class 2A Division I Region I softball area round sweep, and are bound for the third round of the playoffs following Saturday’s 13-2 victory in Game 2 over Forsan at San Angelo Central High School.     AUSTIN – The 2025 UIL Track and Field State Championships concluded Saturday at the University of Texas’ Myers Stadium, with local schools collecting six medals. Earning state championships were Zephyr’s Ronni McClain, who defended her Class 1A girls pole vault title with a best effort of 10-10. Also, Richland Springs Coyote Brice Roesler brought home gold in the 1A boys shot put with a top performance of 51-3.

    Bangs and Early school board elections were on the ballot locally for Brown County residents for Saturday’s May 3 general election. Joy Mitchell, with 248 votes, and Dennis Sanchez, with 189 votes, will join the Bangs ISD Board of Trustees, outdistancing Eric Lykins (173) and Robert (R.C.) Lehman (168) in the battle for two open seats. In the race to fill an unexpired term on the Bangs ISD Board of Trustees, Blu Tidwell received 249 votes to the 157 of his challenger, Larry Lehman.
