Channel 4

Channel 4 is a free-to-air television network based in Leeds, UK, that serves the public. It was created to be the fourth television option for viewers in the UK, alongside the BBC's licence-funded channels, BBC One and BBC Two, and the commercial ITV network. The channel launched its broadcasts on 2 November 1982. While it mainly generates its own revenue, it is still publicly owned. Initially part of the Independent Broadcasting Authority (IBA), it is now run by Channel Four Television Corporation, which is a public corporation under the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport. This organization was established in 1990 and became operational in 1993. In 2010, Channel 4 expanded its services to Wales, making it a channel available across the UK.
