Police in Kingston, Ont. say a live grenade was found in a scrap metal container at a local waste facility this weekend. Police were called to the facility at around 1 p.m. Saturday. It was determined that the object an employee found was a live grenade with the pin still intact. The facility was evacuated, and the Ontario Provincial Police explosive devices unit was called in to dispose of the grenade.

Police are investigating after a teenage boy was stabbed at an Ottawa high school on Monday morning. Paramedics say they responded to Hillcrest High School on Dauphin Road near the Ottawa Hospital General Campus. A boy in his late teens was assaulted with an edged weapon, paramedics say. He suffered serious injuries and was transported to hospital in stable condition. The school remains on lockdown, according to a social media post from police.

A section of the Rideau Canal Skateway has opened for the first time this winter. A 4-kilometre section of the canal between Laurier Avenue and Bank Street opened at 8 a.m. on Saturday, the earliest opening since December 2018.
