Commissioners approve rezoning for new North Clayton High

Clayton County Public Schools held a groundbreaking for the new North Clayton High School but construction was delayed for months because of permitting issues. At its Tuesday, June 17 meeting, the Clayton County Board of Commissioners unanimously approved a rezoning and a future land use map amendment to allow for the construction of the school on 107 acres at the intersection of West Fayetteville Road and East Pleasant Hill Road.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for the third suspect recently arrested in connection to a shooting that claimed the lives of two victims at a motorcycle gathering in Forest Park. According to Clayton County Court records, Marvin Judge, 51, has a preliminary hearing July 9 in Clayton County Magistrate Court.

JONESBORO — Clayton County Public Schools will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the Rosenwald School renovation project Wednesday, June 18 at 5 p.m.The Rosenwald School, formerly known as the White Annex, is at 155 Smith St., Jonesboro. The school system held a groundbreaking for the renovation of the historic school building in the spring of 2024. In February of 2024, the Clayton County Board of Education approved a bid for the renovations with total costs of more than $3.34 million.

JONESBORO — The Jonesboro City Council rejected a request from the Jonesboro Housing Authority for $250,000 — mostly in in-kind contributions — for an 196-unit, multi-family development. At its Monday, June 9 meeting, the City Council voted 4-3 to deny the request. Voting against the request were Tracey Messick, Billy Powell, Don Dixon and Bobby Lester while Mayor Donya Sartor, Alfred Dixon and Asjah Miller voted for.

The whole story of Jesus’ passion is full of reasons to refuse forgiveness. Herod treated him like a clown and sought to humiliate him.
