Supermarket seeks permission to erect 23ft illuminated sign

The sign will be located at the Morrisons store in Cromer (Image: MBH/ Google Maps) A supermarket branch in north Norfolk has applied to install a 23ft tall sign advertising electric vehicle charging. The application has been made to put up the internally lit aluminium sign outside the Morrisons store on Holt Road in Cromer. The proposed totem-style pole would promote MFG EV Power, a network of ultra-rapid electric vehicle charging stations.
Thousands of homes in North Norfolk hit by new double council tax charge

The figures are according to data obtained through a Freedom of Information (FOI) request. Since April 1, anyone owning a second home in the district has been required to pay a 100pc premium on top of their overall council tax bill. It effectively doubles the amount they pay annually for properties not used as a main residence. Data shows that 4,631 homes in the North Norfolk District Council area are now subject to the charge, with the highest concentrations in coastal hotspots.
Classic car show returns to the Norfolk coast this summer

The Mundesley Motor Show will take place on Sunday, July 27 in Gold Park, promising a wide range of vintage, classic and retro vehicles all registered before the year 2000. Alongside the vehicle displays, visitors can enjoy stalls from local traders, food vendors, and live entertainment throughout the day. The 2025 event is already fully booked for exhibitors, following last year’s success, which saw more than 150 cars, bikes and scooters on display.

The ground near the fast food restaurant in Middlebrook Way, Cromer, opened up in the early hours of Friday morning, it is understood. The sinkhole opened up near the restaurant (Image: Supplied) Norfolk County Council Highways were "alerted to the sinkhole out of hours" and "immediately attended to make the area safe". A team is currently on site to investigate and repair the damage.
US cargo jet spotted in sky above Wells-next-the-sea

Pictures have emerged of the jet above Wells-next-the-sea with several other smaller aircraft surrounding it. The flight took off from Wichita in Kansas and was spotted in Norfolk at around 8am on Friday. The aircraft is a Lockheed C-5M Super Galaxy, which landed at the Ramstein Air Base in Germany. Ramstein serves as a European base for the US Air Force.
Sheringham could get new cricket and football sports hub

Sheringham Town Council and Sheringham Sports Association have long been considering how best to modernise the 1990s-built Sports Pavillion near The Reef Leisure Centre on Weybourne Road. While refurbishment and extension remain on the table, both organisations acknowledge that upgrading the existing facility to meet modern standards would be both “challenging and costly”.
