The Daily Northwestern is the official student-run newspaper for Northwestern University. Founded in 1881 and located in Evanston, Illinois, it is produced solely by undergraduate students, with many of them studying at the Medill School of Journalism.

Professional women’s soccer team Chicago Stars FC requested a zoning analysis to play its home matches at Northwestern’s lacrosse, soccer and temporary football stadium during the 2026 season, which spans from March to November. The team’s current lease at SeatGeek Stadium in Bridgeview, Illinois, expires at the end of the year, according to a Stars spokesperson.

    A federal judge dismissed one count in Yasmeen Elagha’s (Pritzker ’24) civil rights lawsuit against three Pritzker School of Law deans Tuesday, allowing another count to proceed. A practicing attorney at the Council on American-Islamic Relations in Chicago, Elagha filed suit against Pritzker Dean Hari Osofsky, Associate Dean and Dean of Students Susan Spies Roth, and Associate Dean George Langford II in Cook County Circuit Court in November. The case was moved to federal court that same month.

    Sanjyot Dunung (Weinberg ’86) announced a bid for Illinois’ 8th Congressional District, which encompasses Chicago suburbs west of Evanston — including Elgin, Schaumburg and parts of Des Plaines — in a news release Tuesday morning. Dunung serves on the Board of Directors for the National Small Business Association, the Truman Center for National Policy, and the American Leadership Project. She also served on former President Joe Biden’s Foreign Policy Working Group.

    City Council voted 8-0 Monday to introduce the Responsible Bidder Ordinance, which will establish additional criteria for businesses applying to carry out city projects. The RBO, long the subject of consideration, requires bidders and subcontractors on public works contracts of at least $25,000 to have increased safety training, apprenticeship programs and a program for the prevention of substance abuse.
