    It was an exciting season for high school boys basketball in Northeast Missouri. Canton made a state run and finished second in Class 2 after giving eventual state champion Eugene a run for their money in the Class 2 state title game. There were several battles between Clarence Cannon Conference arch rivals Monroe City and Palmyra, with Monroe City winning both the Monroe City and Tony Lenzini Tournament championship games over Palmyra and a regular season game.

    There was no shortage of talent for Northeast Missouri girls basketball this season. A number of teams had strong seasons, with Canton, North Shelby and South Shelby winning district championships. Highland won 24 games, while Hannibal, Marion County, Monroe City and Palmyra all had winning seasons. During the regular season, there were several excitement tournaments in Monroe City, Highland and Palmyra.
