21-year-old Malik Ali Smith was sentenced to 23 months to 10 years in prison for assaulting an 80-year-old man. The assault occurred in the locker room of a Farmington Hills YMCA in March 2024. He will receive credit for 452 days served and is prohibited from contacting the victim or their family. Oakland County Circuit Court Judge Victoria Valentine sentenced Smith on May 27 to a minimum of 23 months in prison and a maximum time behind bars of 10 years.
