Brighton High School is honoring two graduates for excellence in their respective fields. BHS is inducting Dennis Bowdoin and Dr. Arthur Pancioli to the Brighton Distinguished Alumni Wall of Fame. Brighton Area Schools announced the inductions June 23. Bowdoin and Pancioli will be honored during a ceremony Oct. 16 at BHS. They'll also be part of the school’s homecoming parade and celebrated during halftime at the district's homecoming football game Oct. 10.

Heat wave coming to Ionia CountyA heat wave is set to hit West Michigan soon, with dangerously high temperatures and heat indexes expected June 21-24. At 9:49 a.m. June 20, the National Weather Service issued an extreme heat watch starting the afternoon of June 21 and running through the evening of June 24. In the release, NWS said there will be “dangerously hot conditions” with a heat index of 100 to 105 degrees possible.  The watch covers much of southern Michigan, including Ionia County.

A driver caused significant damage to Greenwood Cemetery in Fowlerville, Michigan, by driving through it at high speed. Nearly 20 headstones, some historically significant, were damaged in the incident. The Fowlerville Police Department has identified the individual responsible for driving through Greenwood Cemetery in mid-June and damaging nearly 20 headstones.
