Two men were taken to the hospital in critical condition after a rollover crash early June 2 on southbound US-23 in Hartland Township, according to the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies were dispatched at 5:46 a.m. to a single-vehicle crash on southbound US-23 north of Clyde Road in Hartland Township. According to an initial investigation, a 20-year-old Flint man was traveling south on US-23 when he lost control of his vehicle and left the roadway.

A man from Virginia is accused of assaulting a Holland Township woman several times in December 2024, then leaving the state of Michigan for a period of time to avoid police, according to the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office. Christian Montijo, 32, of Manassas, Virginia, has been charged with assault with intent to commit great bodily harm less than murder, two counts of felonious assault, domestic violence, third-degree fleeing and eluding a police officer, felony firearm and reckless driving.

IONIA — The city of Ionia is accepting applications for a vacant council seat. Ward 3 Councilmember Dawn Ketchum is stepping down in early June, according to a news release. Ketchum informed Mayor John Milewski on Thursday, May 22, that she's resigning “due to an upcoming move outside the city," according to the release. She was elected to council in November 2023 after running unopposed for the seat. She began her term in January 2024.
