The spring game is a snack. It’s meant to give fans some sustenance in the offseason until we get the full meal in the fall. Everyone got a taste of the 2025 Fighting Irish in the Blue-Gold game and all it did was make me want to see more because there were some plays that I think give us a glimpse of what we might see this season. I chose a handful of plays from the offense that I feel deserve to be highlighted. Let’s get to it.

There was a lot to get excited about as a Notre Dame fan watching the Blue-Gold game. That also means there were a lot to overreact to as well. I’ve already seen some of that directly after the game. That was bound to happen with CJ Carr coming out and making some great throws and being helped by some equally great catches. Daelin Hayes and his three sacks in 2017. Lawrence Keys and his five catches for 115 yards in 2021. Gi’Bran Payne and his 30-yard touchdown run in 2023. The immortal Junior Jabbie and his MVP performance in 2007. Things like this and Louis Nix lining up in the backfield for a touchdown in the annual Blue-Gold game for Notre Dame are what people remember about previous spring games. They don’t remember much else because it usually predicts nothing about an upcoming season.
