One of the newest high-rises in the Jersey City skyline is the subject of a new complaint from the state Attorney General’s office, as several labor abuses have been reported against several construction companies. Attorney General Matthew J. Platkin and the New Jersey Department of Labor and Workforce Development filed a lawsuit on April 21 in Hudson County Civil Court against the builders of 88 Regent.

An appellate court has sided with a developer that will be bringing a new residential complex to the site of a budget hotel, which will be welcoming guests for the final time this upcoming summer season. Back in early 2023, Edelman Investment Group LLC won approvals to revamp three properties including the Belmar Inn. The parcels, known as 108 and 112-114 Twelfth Avenue, include the hotel and a one-family rental property.

Jersey City welcomed another cannabis dispensary over the weekend as The Medicine Woman kicked off their business with several celebrities in attendance to celebrate the launch. Situated at 660 Tonnelle Avenue in Jersey City, The Medicine Woman gained approval from the city’s cannabis board early last year. New Jersey’s own Ice-T is a co-owner of the business along with Charis Burrett, a former Playboy model.
