San Juan Bautista and San Benito County have rejected Hollister’s latest proposal for fire protection services, citing an inability to cover the $3.9 million in shared increased costs. Both agencies have asked Hollister to reconsider the terms that were offered in March. At the San Benito County Board of Supervisors April 15 meeting, Supervisor Mindy Sotelo said the county cannot afford the cost increase, which comes with an additional 8% annual increase.

The girls scored 86-84, for an overall 6-0 record for the season, and the boys scored 90-62, for a 3-2 record. The girls’ win places them at the top of the Cypress Division of the Pacific Coast Athletic League. The boys are second in their division.

Building on the Hawk Academy, a successful partnership with Gavilan College, four Anzar High School students have been studying a cutting-edge technology called “mechatronics” in a class offered at Hartnell College’s Alisal campus.
