    The Wampanoag Tribe of Gay Head (Aquinnah) joined a lawsuit last week that is attempting to nullify the approvals of a large offshore wind energy project off the Vineyard’s shores. The tribe, along with several Nantucket residents, fishermen groups and the ACK for Whales nonprofit, filed the suit in federal district court in Washington, D.C., claiming that several federal government agencies did not take enough into consideration when they greenlit the New England 1 and 2 projects.

The regional high school celebrated the athletes Thursday afternoon by organizing a signing day for the students and their families.     West Tisbury Police say they will file a charge against a town employee after he allegedly shoved a man at the annual town meeting last month. West Tisbury building inspector Joseph Tierney is facing a charge of assault and battery on an elderly person after resident Leon Brathwaite told police that Mr. Tierney pushed him to the ground at the April 8 town meeting, according to a police report.

    At State Beach, the Camp Jabberwocky bus has always held a special status. The big red bus with the Alice in Wonderland characters frolicking on the sides has a reserved spot all summer long so that campers can enjoy easier access to the beach, and passersby get to enjoy the sight of the iconic vehicle. Jabberwocky campers have been riding in one red bus or another to take part in summer activities since the 1960s, when the name on the side still read Martha’s Vineyard Cerebral Palsy Camp.

    Summertime means baseball at the Shark Tank on Martha’s Vineyard. The Martha’s Vineyard Sharks summer collegiate league opens their 14th season on Tuesday, June 3, with a home game against the Vermont Mountaineers.
