Dallas Police confiscated significant amounts of illegal narcotics in a drug bust in far northeast Lake Highlands last week. Police say DPD units executed a search warrant in the 9900 block of Forest Lane “following an extensive investigation into the manufacturing and distribution of illegal narcotics in the area.”According to police, 1,379.4 grams of Methamphetamine, 245.7 grams of cocaine, 24.7 grams of heroin and other drug paraphernalia were confiscated.

Former Lake Highlands High School Athletic Director and Head Football Coach Lonnie Jordan is returning to Richardson ISD, the district announced Wednesday. The district announced in an X post that Jordan, who led LHHS’ athletic department and football program from 2015 to 2023, will serve as RISD’s newest executive director of athletics beginning in May. He will replace Leslie Slovak, who is retiring and has served as the district’s top athletic official for over a decade.

Dallas Police have taken a man into custody after a Saturday night shooting left one dead in Vickery Meadow. According to DPD, units responded to a shooting call in the 7200 block of Fair Oaks Avenue at about 10:30 p.m. Saturday night. When they arrived, officers determined two individuals had been shot, police say. 27-year-old Mohamad Hassan Bin Mohamad was transported by Dallas Fire-Rescue to a local hospital where he died, police say.

The Exchange Club of Lake Highlands is hosting a candidate forum later this month for candidates in the RISD Single Member Place 5 race. Set to take place on April 24 at the KC Club, the forum is open to the public and free to attend. The forum will start at 7 p.m. and will see both candidates field questions collected from community members.
