Michael Gaine was reported missing on March 20 with his remains found on his land and in a slurry tank on his farm almost two months later on May 16. Gardaí continue to probe the death of Michael Gaine and are treating the case as a homicide.

An appeal has been made by gardaí to landowners in specific areas of Leitrim to check sheds and remote buildings for a man missing from Carrick-on-Shannon for over three weeks. Gardaí are renewing their appeal in seeking the public’s assistance in tracing the whereabouts of 48-year-old Manuel D’Costa, who was reported missing from his home in Carrick-on-Shannon, Co. Leitrim, on Friday, 16th May 2025. Manuel was last seen at approximately 6am.
