If you caught this article back in 2019, you may be wondering what happened to Project SALT. The answer is that it’s been patiently waiting for its turn to come back to life. Parachutes are an important piece of drag racing safety gear. You don’t buy any random parachute, bolt it up to your vehicle, and hope for the best. In this article, we’re going to cover what you need to know when it comes to buying a parachute for your vehicle, and what to expect when you deploy it for the first time. Holley LS Fest Texas 2025 was a hot and humid affair, but I’m not just talking about the weather… We got hot and bothered about several LS-swapped vehicles at Texas Speedway and had to share because – well – that’s our job! A while back, we set out to see how cheaply we could make 1,000 horsepower in a reliable package. The goal was 1,000 horsepower for $8,000 (hence the “1K For 8K” name), and while we achieved our power goal, we came up about $1,700 short of the goal. The engine ran great. So great, in fact, we decided to use it as a test mule for another project we had bouncing around in our heads.

Not every engine swap project needs a high-dollar aftermarket EFI system. Sometimes, a simple OEM ECU with basic wiring will get the job done. You could just reuse the OEM wiring harness, but that harness might have its own issues you can’t see with the naked eye. That’s why using a professionally made harness for your project might be the smart move. Let’s face it, OEM parts you grab from the local junkyard or Facebook Marketplace could be compromised.
