Nashville Scene

Nashville Scene is an alternative newsweekly based in Nashville, Tennessee. Established in 1989, it became part of Village Voice Media in 1999. In early 2006, Village Voice Media merged with New Times Media, bringing Nashville Scene into a larger network of sixteen publications. In 2009, SouthComm Communications took ownership of the paper. Nashville Scene primarily covers topics related to music, arts, entertainment, and local and state politics in the Nashville area.

    The state of Tennessee has renewed its contract with private prison operator CoreCivic to run the South Central Correctional Facility in Wayne County. The State Building Commission approved the three-year, $168 million contract with CoreCivic at a meeting on May 8. The contract will take effect on July 1 and run through June 30, 2028. Lt. Gov.

    The Antioch High School gunman had been on probation for previous violent behaviors at the time of the Jan. 22 fatal shooting at the school, according to juvenile court records recently released to the public. The teen had signed probation paperwork the morning of the shooting, prohibiting him from possessing guns, ammunition and other weapons.
