    VERNON - Voters on Tuesday overwhelmingly approved a roughly $107 million budget that includes a 2.85% tax increase, representing only the second tax increase in town in the past seven years. A small number of residents gathered for the annual town meeting at Rockville High School, voting 48-4 to pass the budget with two members of the public not voting. The increase brings the tax rate for personal property and real estate to 36.09 mills, an increase of one mill from last year.

    WEST HARTFORD - Some adjustments were made to West Hartford's town budget, lessening the overall tax increase to 5.74%. Town Manager Rick Ledwith laid out the changes to the budget, which totals $367 million - an increase of around $20 million over last year's budget - at Tuesday night's Town Council meeting. The budget was approved with all six Democrats voting for it and all three Republicans voting against it. The tax rate was set at 44.78 mills.

    NAUGATUCK - A Naugatuck man was arrested after he took photos of a 14-year-old girl at a Dunkin' Donuts Saturday, police said. George Batza, 66, was charged with second-degree breach of peace and risk of injury to a minor, Naugatuck police said in a news release Wednesday.
