North Wales Weekly News
The Weekly News and Visitors’ Chronicle was launched on February 14, 1889, by local printer Robert Evans Jones. This four-page broadsheet was created for the communities of Colwyn Bay, Colwyn, Llandrillo, Conway, Deganway, and surrounding areas, priced at just 1d. In 1900, Jones' brother William established a new printing facility on Conwy Quay, where the newspaper continued to be produced until May 1972, when it relocated to a modern building in Llandudno Junction. Shortly after the move, the publication transitioned from traditional hot metal typesetting to computer-based printing, and advancements in technology later enabled content to be sent from branch offices across North Wales directly to the print plant. In 1988, the Jones family sold the newspaper to Trinity International plc, although Robert Evans Jones' great-nephew remained as the chairman of the new board. The paper marked its 125th anniversary in 2014.

"At 7.35 this morning, the Bishop of Rome, Francis, returned to the home of the Father. His entire life was dedicated to the service of the Lord and of his Church," he said.
