He broke his right wrist while attempting a diving catch in CF for the Cincinnati Reds late in spring training while still in camp in Goodyear, Arizona.

The Cincinnati Reds, believe it or not, could take home a series victory with a win today despite having lost the first game of the series, something that happens about as often as humankind walks on the surface of the moon.

Back in December of 2018, the Reds selected Joe in the Rule 5 Draft, plucking him from the Los Angeles Dodgers organization and bringing him in to camp in Goodyear in search of a big league job. That didn’t pan out, unfortunately.

Similarly, they brought back both Will Benson and Chase Petty while shipping underperforming outfielders Blake Dunn and Jacob Hurtubise back to AAA Louisville. That’s the kind of lineup shuffle that, in theory, would help turn this moribund offense into something more substantial. Maybe?

It’s not hard to quantify just how frustrating the most recent series between the Cincinnati Reds and Atlanta Braves was (from the Reds perspective). They were shut out once. Twice, they lost games in extra innings - once on a defensive brain fart, once after having taken a late two-run lead that evaporated in an instant.

Minor injury to Hunter Greene is still a major problem for the Reds

He pumped in 101 mph heat while painting all corners of the zone, issued nary a walk, and struck out six Atlanta Braves in just 3.0 IP of work on the night. Six of the nine outs he recorded came via strikeout. That he only recorded nine outs, though, could not have been much worse.

With the Reds up 3-0 in the bottom of the 4th inning, Hunter Greene was cruising just as he has all season. Having allowed only 2 hits and already accumulating 6 strikeouts across his 3 innings, the Reds were seemingly well on their way to victory. That was, until Greene felt something awkward in his leg while throwing a warm-up pitch before the bottom of the 4th.
