The Cincinnati Reds are in Baltimore to open a three-game series against the Orioles, the first of a three-series road trip. Andrew Abbott gets his second start of the 2025 season, and the Reds will be up against lefty Cade Povich of Baltimore (hence the righty-heavy lineup). TJ Friedl will start this one on the bench while Blake Dunn patrols CF, and Matt McLain will lead off for Cincinnati. First pitch is set for 7:05 PM ET.

Photo by Dylan Buell/Getty Images Yesterday wasn’t exactly the greatest day in Brady Singer’s professional baseball life, though the defense behind him certainly wasn’t there to help. He allowed 4 runs (2 earned) in 4.1 IP, to date his shortest outing since being acquired by the Cincinnati Reds from the Kansas City Royals over the winter in the deal that sent Jonathan India the other way.

Photo by Louis Requena/MLB via Getty Images The Cincinnati Reds got their homestand off to a roaring start, first sweeping the Pittsburgh Pirates before welcoming the sputtering Seattle Mariners to town (and taking the series opener from them, too). Things went sideways from there, as the Reds saw their rally come up just short in a 5-3 loss in the second game of the Seattle series only for the series finale to be a blown roller coaster on the back of poor defense and costly errors.

Photo by Jason Mowry/Getty Images Christian Encarnacion-Strand smacked a 2-run double in Wednesday’s game between the Cincinnati Reds and Seattle Mariners, his first hit since April 8th. It marked his first double of the entire month of April and only his second extra-base hit of the month, precisely the opposite of the kind of power that’s been expected of him since he broke out with authority during the 2023 season. Perhaps there’s a concrete reason behind that power outage.
