The Cincinnati Reds have called up right-handed starting pitcher Randy Wynne from Triple-A Louisville. He’s taking the spot on the 26-man roster of right-handed pitcher Carson Spiers who has been placed on the injured list. Cincinnati found themselves in a tough spot on Saturday when Hunter Greene’s struggles turned into needing to use Carson Spiers out of the bullpen. Spiers, who was the scheduled starter for today’s game, had just been called up from Triple-A.

The Cincinnati Reds showed up to Baltimore and took it to the Orioles to open up their 3-game series on Friday night. Andrew Abbott was dominant as he struck out 11 batters and the offense had his back as they pounded out 11 hits and scored eight runs. The win moved the Reds to 10-10 on the season.

He will be taking the spot on the 26-man roster of Nick Lodolo. The left-handed starter is being placed on the paternity list as his wife is about to give birth. Cincinnati begins a 3-game weekend series in Baltimore tonight against the 8-10 Orioles. Lodolo would have been expected to pitch for the Reds on Sunday to wrap up the series.
