Kim Klement Neitzel-Imagn Images In a very citrus-infused weekend series, and with a very unusual start time for a Friday game, the Rays invited the Marlins to town. Edward Cabrera was on the mound for the Marlins, while Zack Littell got the nod for the Rays. It was a blistering hot day in the Florida sun, and certainly everyone was hoping to power through this one. Nathan Ray Seebeck-Imagn Images This game was two completely different viewing experiences. For the first five innings it was a pitcher’s duel, and despite an inconsistent strike zone, it was Drew Rasmussen who came out ahead. The Rays enter play on Tuesday with a 30-29 record and have won seven of their last 10; they are 6.5 games back of the New York Yankees for the division lead and 2 games back in the Wild Card chase.

Thomas Shea-Imagn Images Coming into this Sunday matchup the Rays were playing with house money. Already securing the series split on the road vs a good Astros team in Houston. After they were able to get to Hunter Brown back in Tampa under a sweltering sun, the young Cy Young candidate was not going to be an easy task to topple twice. And well, Brown was...good is a strong word. How about Brown was effectively wild? At one point Brown had thrown 40 strikes and 40 balls.
