The proclamation encouraged residents to wear blue, pink, yellow or white on Monday to help spread awareness about the birth defect. O'Brien also declared Saturday, April 26, to be Asher Garcia Day.

    MIDDLESEX, NJ - South Plainfield High School's boys tennis team continued to dominate on Tuesday, defeating Middlesex High School at Mountain View Park 5-0 for the Tigers' fifth straight victory. The Tigers win improved the team's overall season record to 6-1. South Plainfield has won the Greater Middlesex Conference's Blue Division for the past two seasons and is currently in second place behind Piscataway High School. The Tigers' only loss of the season was to Piscataway.

    PISCATAWAY, NJ - The Spotswood High School varsity boys' tennis team was back on the court on Tuesday, taking on undefeated Piscataway High School. Spotswood lost to the Greater Middlesex Conference Blue Division-leading Piscataway 5-0. The loss dropped the Chargers' overall season record to 1-6. This is Spotswood first season back in the Blue Division after winning consecutive Gold Division titles. Aidan Levy lost his first singles match to Eric Lindsay, 6-0, 6-0.

    EDISON, NJ - The Spotswood High School girls varsity softball team lost the second of a home-at-home to St. Thomas Aquinas High School on Tuesday 9-1. Ava Mormile took the loss on the mound for the Chargers, pitching five innings and giving up eight runs on 12 hits. Mormile, who earned her 500th career strikeout last week, had three strikeouts. Lily Cunningham spent time on the mound for the Chargers, pitching one inning and giving up two hits with one strikeout.
