The Big Lead is a sports news blog based in the United States, and it is part of the Gannett Company, sharing a connection with the well-known USA Today newspaper. While its primary focus is on sports, the blog also explores a variety of other subjects, including politics and pop culture. It was established on February 24, 2006, by former sportswriter Jason McIntyre and his college friend David Lessa. In June 2010, McIntyre sold the blog to Fantasy Sports Ventures for a sum in the low seven figures. Later, on January 24, 2012, Gannett acquired Fantasy Sports Ventures, bringing The Big Lead into the USA Today digital network.
