Vox Magazine
Vox was launched in the spring of 1998 when the Columbia Missourian combined its two weekly publications, Weekend, an entertainment magazine, and Ideas, the Sunday magazine. From the start, Vox has set out to be like that awesome friend who always knows the latest trends, offers insightful opinions on a variety of topics, and has a witty way with words that blends humor and intelligence. Our ambitious goals are detailed in our mission statement below. This magazine is produced by the Columbia Missourian and created by students from the nation’s oldest, and arguably best, journalism school. Rest assured, it’s much more than just a college newspaper, and we have experienced faculty guiding us. Vox has earned several accolades, including the esteemed General Excellence award from the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communications, recognizing it as the top magazine created by college students in the entire country. Additionally, we believe it’s the only monthly magazine in the U.S. produced by a team that completely rotates every three months. While some view this as a challenge, we see it as an advantage — it keeps our content fresh and exciting.

If you’re on the University of Missouri’s campus on a weekday during lunchtime, you’re bound to see a big, yellow trailer, filling the air with smells of smash patties grilling, bread toasting and onions caramelizing. This is The Melt Masters truck, the brainchild of MU students and friends Kobe Messick, Connor McHugh, Keegan Hartnett and Sam O’Neill. The Melt Masters serve all things cheesy and affordable, catering to a customer base of fellow students.

As you get older, it can feel like you're expected to let go of passions or hobbies developed in youth. Life starts to seem more serious when you decide to pursue higher education, begin a new job or maybe even start a family. Sometimes, just getting older is enough to lose sight of what we enjoy doing in our spare time. This is something that I've struggled with and am still working on as a young adult.
