Here’s another truism to add to that list: Credit card balances don’t rise in the first quarter of the year. That was once again true in 2025, as balances fell to $1.18 trillion in Q1, down $29 billion (2.4 percent) from Q4 2024, according to the New York Fed. Over the past 22 years, credit card balances fell from Q4 to Q1 on 21 occasions, and they were flat once (in 2023).

SAGINAW, Mich. – The Saginaw County Prosecutor’s Office says that the actions taken by law enforcement during an officer-involved shooting back in March were justified and no charges will be filed. According to the SCPO, two 911 calls were made on March 30th in reference to a domestic disturbance involving a 33-year-old male. The subject was armed with a knife and wanted officers to “kill him”, according to one of the calls.

LANSING, Mich. — A potential threat of federal cuts to Medicaid funding could leave more than 2.6 million Michigan residents without health insurance, according to a report by the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS). The report indicates that the state could lose between $4.1 billion and $13.4 billion in funding over the next decade. Genesee Health System, which is heavily reliant on Medicaid funding, expressed concerns about the impact of such cuts.
