    The Bristol Kendall Fire Protection District says no one was hurt in a fire in the 8400 block of Route 34 in Yorkville Wednesday afternoon. Firefighters arrived to find the fire already out but discovered damage to the side of the building. Dispatch had reported that two people had been trying to extinguish the blaze. Firefighters removed burned siding and put out additional hot spots to prevent the fire from starting again. The building is still usable. Damage is estimated at about $20,000.

    The St. Charles Police Department says a five-year-old boy was killed Tuesday evening after being struck by a vehicle in a driveway in the 4000 block of Royal Fox Drive. Police say the driver, an immediate family member, has been fully cooperating with the investigation. Officers were called around 5:09 p.m. and arrived to find a neighbor performing CPR on the child. Paramedics took over and transported the boy to Delnor Hospital in Geneva, where he was pronounced dead.
