YoungFewer single-family homes were sold in Massachusetts last month compared to a year prior, but real estate market analysts at The Warren Group said Tuesday that the first quarter of 2025 gave them hope that inventory pressures are receding slightly. There were 2,460 single-family home sales in Massachusetts in March, a 4.2% decrease from March 2024’s 2,569 sales, The Warren Group reported. The median price for the homes sold in March was $600,000, up 3.4% over last March.

Fall River residents spoke, and the City Council listened. City water rates will remain $4.24 per 100 cubic feet and sewer rates will remain $8.11 per 100 cubic feet in the fiscal 2026 budget. Residents have been showing up at meetings for several months to speak at citizens input against water and sewer rate increases. Many asking for a break and stating they can’t afford anymore increases.

FALMOUTH, Mass. — U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, along with federal law enforcement partners from the FBI, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives arrested an illegally present Brazilian charged with multiple sex crimes against a Massachusetts child. Officers with ICE Boston and agents with FBI Boston and ATF Boston arrested Ilma Leandro De Oliveira, 53, in Falmouth.

Hundreds of passengers on the MBTA’s South Coast Rail service faced significant disruptions due to cancellations caused by staffing shortages on Sunday. Direct train lines from Boston to New Bedford and Fall River were canceled, leaving a gap in service for over five hours. Affected passengers were informed of replacement bus services, but some buses reportedly failed to arrive.
