WYPR-FM (Baltimore, MD)
WYPR is a public radio station that caters to the Baltimore, Maryland metropolitan area. It broadcasts at 88.1 MHz on the FM band. The station's studio is located in the Charles Village neighborhood in northern Baltimore, while its transmitter is situated to the west in Park Heights. Additionally, WYPR is simulcast in the Frederick and Hagerstown regions on WYPF (88.1 FM) and in Ocean City on WYPO (106.9 FM). Interestingly, the two stations broadcasting on 88.1 are not in sync; WYPF's audio is about half a second behind that of WYPR, which can make listening difficult in certain parts of Howard and Carroll counties.

As many as 9,000 Afghan refugees are at risk of deportation, as the Trump administration has ended the temporary protected status (TPS) that allowed them to stay in the U.S. legally. The White House says their country is no longer dangerous for them, a contention that confounds Afghanistan watchers. "It's a death penalty for them if they return," said Zia Ghafoori, who worked as an interpreter in combat with U.S. Army Special Forces from 2002 to 2014.

The anti-violence initiative Safe Streets operates 10 sites around the city, where workers help resolve conflicts and find non-violent resolutions. Baltimore Mayor Brandon Scott says anti-violence initiatives like Safe Street helped Baltimore reach historic lows in the number of homicides committed in our city over the last 3 years. Funding for the program moving forward is in doubt.
