Whatcom’s newest restaurants:SOHO Asian Kitchen & BarSOHO Asian Kitchen & Bar, an Asian inspired restaurant in downtown Bellingham, opened April 1. The restaurant’s menu includes dim sum, pad Thai, kimchi soup, spring rolls, bao and other Asian dishes.

    Downtown Bellingham has lost a popular bottle shop, taproom and lounge connected to a local brewery. Garden Path Fermentation, a beer, wine, cider, and mead brewery in Skagit County, has permanently closed The Great Northern Bottle Shop & Lounge in Bellingham, its only Whatcom County location. The closure was announced April 3 in a social media post.

    Bellingham’s waterfront pop-up restaurant has returned for its second year, and is ready to serve up some Chicago-style hot dogs. Yacht Dogs, a hot dog stand outside of Bellingham’s Granary Building, was started last summer by Carly James, co-owner of Bison Bookbinding & Letterpress, who owns the stationery shop along with her husband, Kevin Nelson. This year, the popular hot dog stand has a new menu, expanding beyond just hot dogs.
