CLEVELAND — The non-profit Birthing Beautiful Communities broke ground on a new birthing center in Cleveland’s Hough neighborhood on Tuesday. It was a moment years in the making, digging up some much-needed hope for the community. When we last spoke with CEO Jazmin Long in May of 2024, she said the location for the birthing center at East 65th Street and Chester Avenue was chosen with intention because the neighborhood has an infant death rate three times the national average.

David Webb heard some concerns from his community about a road piled with junk near Mayfair and Manhattan avenues. On Monday afternoon, he was out there with his son to clean up the mess. Given our first meeting with Webb, this is not surprising. When we first met him back in September of 2024, he was volunteering his time to clean up after a violent weekend left the streets full of litter and debris.

It was the site of a shooting that left one hurt and four dead, including the gunman, Jason Norris.

A survey team from the National Weather Service visited Rocky River Wednesday to assess storm damage after destructive storms hit Northeast Ohio Tuesday afternoon. Luke Lytell is in disbelief over Tuesday's storms. He and his family have lived in their Rocky River home on Laurel Avenue for 11 years. During the storms, a large branch snapped off of a more than 100-year-old oak tree in his front yard, causing damage to his home and his neighbors.
