GARFIELD COUNTY, Colo. (KREX) – The Garfield County Sheriff’s Office announced the identities of the three people who died in Tuesday’s two-vehicle crash on U.S. Interstate 70. The driver of the one of the vehicles was 84-year-old New Castle resident Dawn Ingrid Triplat. The other car contained Teddy-Jo Headrick, 70, and Richard Headrick, 81, both of Highland, Utah. The coroner’s office said all three died from blunt force injuries in the accident. Colorado State Patrol is investigating the crash.

MESA COUNTY, Colo. (KREX) – The Fault Line fire that started earlier this week has been 100% contained, according to the Upper Colorado River Interagency Fire Management Unit. The fire was fully contained at about 8 p.m., Wednesday. Six firefighters will remain at the site to monitor the wildfire and continue mop-up. They plan to leave the area sometime this afternoon. The blaze initially started around 3 p.m., near a campsite in Ruby Horsethief Canyon, growing to 34.4 acres.

MESA COUNTY, Colo. (KREX) – Crime Stoppers of Mesa County is asking for the community’s help in finding two suspects regarding a theft. The incident occurred around 5 p.m., Saturday, May 10, when a male and female couple entered Ulta Beauty, 632 Market St. While inside, the woman allegedly picked up several items from the shelves, concealing them inside a large black bag the man was carrying.

DELTA COUNTY, Colo. (KREX) – Not long after walking away from Delta Correctional Center, an inmate didn’t get far as he was quickly apprehended by law enforcement, according to the Colorado Department of Corrections. Blake Jones reportedly left the facility around 5 p.m. An hour and a half later, the Delta County Sheriff’s Office received a report that an individual had seen the inmate, dressed in green, walking along 25 Mesa Road.

(KREX) – After the 2020 Grizzly Creek Fire and years of mudslides, the Colorado Department of Transportation and other agencies have teamed up to address issues on U.S. Interstate 70 through Glenwood Canyon. CDOT said there has been a reduced threat level compared to previous years based on burn scar recovery and debris flow potential.
