A former Chicago White Sox second baseman turned artist is partnering with White Sox Charities for a one-of-a-kind Juneteenth collaboration. Micah Johnson worked with student athletes who are part of the Amateur City Elite program to design custom Juneteenth artwork that the boys will wear on their jerseys this weekend. The T-shirts feature a patch in the middle surrounded by designs created by the students.

Black Theatre United is an organization aimed at creating more diversity and inclusion in theater. With the help of that group, actress Vanessa Williams is making her producorial debut for the new musical “A Wonderful World.” It tells the story of jazz legend Louis Armstrong and stars James Monroe Iglehart. The musical is told through the perspective of Armstrong’s four wives. The production intentionally imitates Armstrong’s musical journey from New Orleans to Chicago.
