Many of Ontario’s Progressive Conservative candidates seem to be following an old, depressing playbook. PCs across the province, with some exceptions, have been avoiding participation in local all-candidates debates like the plague. The Greens failed to send anyone to the Niagara debates, but they’re not the incumbent government and have no shot at winning here or provincially.

Another round of the interminable debate over municipal governance arrives in Niagara next week. The Ontario government's standing committee reviewing municipal governance meets in St. Catharines on Wednesday and it will no doubt hear hours of opinion about the different structural options that could be imposed on Niagara's municipalities. Niagara Region’s Vision Zero speed enforcement initiative has created some strong reactions in the two short months it’s been in operation.
