    The Polynesian Association of Alaska is celebrating their 20 year anniversary Saturday during their annual Cultural Flag Day ceremony.     A pedestrian was killed by a hit-and run driver in Anchorage early Friday at an intersection near the Seward Highway, according to police. Police responded to Brayton Drive and Mockingbird Drive around 12:30 a.m.“Initial indications are that two pedestrians were walking south on or along Brayton Drive near Mockingbird Drive when one adult male was struck by a vehicle heading northbound on Brayton,” said a statement from police. The other pedestrian was uninjured, police said.

    The number of businesses that manufacture products in Alaska is small, but a new association hopes to change that. Alaska Manufacturing Association, or AKMA, is building a business to business directory, in an effort to make it easier for businesses to produce products locally. Megan Militello, the association’s managing partner, said the directory will connect businesses with manufacturers, and find solutions to common problems.

    Ryan Timmerman joined Luther College’s coaching staff as the inaugural head women’s wrestling coach on April 15. The announcement was made by Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Renae Hartl and Head Men’s Wrestling Coach Dave Mitchell. Timmerman currently serves as a special education teacher and co-head wrestling coach at St. Peter High School in St. Peter, Minnesota, where he has led the Saints to eight consecutive winning seasons.

    In an April 29 press release, Luther College announced a residential campus partnership that will allow a cohort of Northeast Iowa Community College (NICC) students to live on the Luther campus. Beginning in the fall 2025 semester, between 20 and 50 NICC students will have the option to live on the third floor of the Larsen building, a facility that combines dormitory, classroom and office space.
