A Forest School area in Haverhill has received a glowing upgrade, thanks to a generous donation from a well-known local firepit creator. Clements Primary Academy in Greenfields Way was gifted a brand-new firepit bowl and tripod from the Firepit Company, which will enhance their outdoor learning experience and provide students with opportunities to develop valuable life skills. The Firepit Company, located in Helions Bumpstead, is run by Jason and Diana André, who took over the business last year.

Three men were arrested for trying to throw banned items into a prison after a countryside manhunt. Haverhill Police were called to HMP Highpoint, in Stradishall, on Sunday after reports the individuals were attempting to covertly throw the items over its barriers. The local beat officers attended and apprehended one of the trio straight away along with the vehicle they had arrived in.

Two towns have gained new ‘reverse vending machines’ following a six month trial. West Suffolk Council announced, thanks to an ‘enthusiastic response’, it had installed the new Trovr maxchines at Howden Insurance, in Brentgovel Street, Bury St Edmunds, and at Haverhill Leisure Centre. Earlier this year, it became the first council in the country to get behind the unique recycling initiative with machines at the Parkway multi-storey, The Guineas, in Newmarket, and Newmarket Leisure Centre.

A charity which supports people with neurological conditions has celebrated its clients’ rehabilitation success. Headway Suffolk, established in the early 90s, helps people with traumatic brain injuries or those who suffered a stroke regain independence and adapt to living with various conditions. Last Wednesday, the charity held its annual awards night, dubbed ‘Headway Suffolk Oscars’, at Edmunds — a restaurant at West Suffolk College.
