Real story behind the house in the middle of the M62

If you've ever driven between junctions 22 and 23 of the M62, then you'll know all about the farmhouse which sits between the carriageways. The famous rumour for its existence is that the farmer who owned the building wouldn't move when the road was built, so the six lanes of traffic were constructed around them. But the real story is less exciting. Due to a geological fault along the M62 route at the point of Stott Hall Farm, it couldn't be asphalted over.
