The U SPORTS Cross Country Championships are coming to Kelowna, set to be hosted by UBCO this weekend at Mission Recreation Park. This is just the second time in UBCO history that the achool has hosted a university level championship — hosting the Canadian Inter-University Curling Canada Championships in 2016. The UBCO Heat have been preparing for more than a year to host cross country student athletes from more than 30 different universities across the country.

A Kelowna team of blind curlers is gearing up to host the provincial championships in the new year. The team is ramping up their weekend practices in preparation of the four-team event. “Home ice is always good in any sport. It’s nice to be competitive and you always want to perform well at home whether it’s in front of a big crowd or a small crowd. It's so good to have all the teams coming here to Kelowna," said lead Kent Stewart, who has been blind since 2021.

To make way for the Remembrance Day parade on Monday, Nov. 11, road closures and parking restrictions will be in place downtown Kelowna. Branch 26 of the Royal Canadian Legion will be hosting a memorial ceremony and parade downtown at City Park from approximately 10:45 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. Bernard Ave. will be closed from Water St. to Abbott St. and Abbott St. from Bernard Ave. to Lawrence Ave. beginning at 8 a.m. for the pre-ceremony parade.
