McClusky woman killed in vehicle/tractor crash

SHERDIAN COUNTY, N.D. (KFYR) - A crash between a vehicle and a tractor on Tuesday afternoon led to the death of a 67-year-old McClusky woman. The woman was driving on Highway 200 near McClusky when her vehicle crossed into the eastbound lane, hitting a tractor. The driver of the vehicle died on the scene, and the road was closed for roughly four hours. The driver of the tractor was uninjured in the crash. Copyright 2025 KFYR. All rights reserved.
Identified Washburn WWII soldier to be buried at Arlington National Cemetery

BISMARCK, N.D. (KFYR) - A U.S. soldier and Washburn native who served in World War II will be given a military burial in a few days. The U.S. Army announced Friday morning that the remains of Private First Class Charles Reiser will be interred at Arlington National Cemetery on April 23. Reiser was killed on June 15, 1944, during an operation in the Northern Mariana Islands. The Army said it’s believed his unit was providing support to Marines who were landing on the island at the time.
New resource to help simplify searches for online state information

North Dakota announced a new “State Data Hub” website, which intends to help simplify the searching process for those looking for information provided by the state. It will serve as a central platform where you can find up-to-date information from the state’s agencies. The idea behind the program started in 2022, to make information more accessible to the state’s residents.
Applications available for 2025 elk, moose and sheep season

BISMARCK, N.D. (KFYR) - Hunting licenses for elk, moose and sheep are now available online. North Dakota Game and Fish said there are 960 elk licenses available, which is an increase of more than 100 from last year. There are nearly 300 moose licenses, which is also an increase from 2024. Sheep hunting season is not yet set in stone. Game and Fish said the season will be determined after Sept. 1, once sheep surveys have been completed.
One-vehicle Tuesday night crash kills 31-year-old man

DUNN COUNTY, N.D. (KFYR) - A 31-year-old Georgia man has passed away from injuries received during a one-vehicle crash in Dunn County. The driver was traveling between Killdeer and Watford City Tuesday night on a wet gravel road when his vehicle went off the road and overturned in Crosby Creek. No significant change in number of fires across ND from previous year

BISMARCK, N.D. (KFYR) - The state’s fire marshall said while the number of fires in 2024 in North Dakota remains roughly the same as the previous year, the amount of damage it cost is the lowest it’s been in six years. The Office of the State Fire Marshall released a preliminary report of reported fires in 2024, which shows 2,924 fire-related incidents took place last year. That number is estimated to rise to roughly 3,200 by the time the final report is released.

The driver was traveling on Highway 2 in Williams County around 7 a.m. during frost and icy conditions when his vehicle slid and rolled over after entering the center meridian. Voltaire man dies from injuries while vehicle towed

MCHENRY COUNTY, N.D. (KFYR) - A 64-year-old man from Voltaire died from injuries while getting his vehicle towed Wednesday night. The driver attempted to leave his home in McHenry County when his vehicle got stuck in a ditch. A 74-year-old man stopped to help tow his vehicle out. During the tow, they came near a building. The 64-year-old stepped out of a vehicle and became trapped between the building and a vehicle, unknown to the man towing the vehicle.
