    Brooke Patron, 29, who hails from the small community of Redvers, Sask., has taken her talents across the world and has been named the Head Coach of the New Zealand Ice Fernz, the country’s national women’s hockey team. Patron has lived in New Zealand for over six years. She decided to travel after earning her bachelor’s degree at the University of Saskatchewan where she played on the women’s hockey team for three years.

    The Melfort Mustangs are sitting atop the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL) standings after falling short in the Centennial Cup last season. It was a successful season for the Melfort Mustangs last year in their league as they won the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL) Championship for the first time since 2016. The team went on to compete at the Centennial Cup where they lost 1-0 in the final to the Collingwood Blues.

    It was a somber day at Mosaic Stadium as members of the Saskatchewan Roughriders officially cleaned out their stalls and closed the book on the 2024 season. “It sucks. You don’t plan on this happening. I honestly didn’t think we’d be having this talk today. I felt like we’d be getting our bags packed to go to Vancouver. And unfortunately, we didn’t get it done yesterday and it hurts,” quarterback Trevor Harris shared.

    The Saskatchewan Roughriders extended their Grey Cup drought to 11 years after losing 38-22 to the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in the CFL’s Western Final on Saturday. The Bombers advance to their fifth straight Grey Cup and will move on to face the Toronto Argonauts who defeated the Montreal Alouettes earlier in the day. It was a dominant performance from Winnipeg from the start and Saskatchewan could not keep up.
