SIOUX CITY — A new mural showcasing the history of Sioux City and the Morningside neighborhood has appeared in the Fremont Tire lot. Artist Gabe Perez was hired by Fremont Tire to create a mural on the side of a shipping container, outside of the Morningside location. Perez said the mural represents the history of Sioux City and the Morningside neighborhood.

WEST OKOBOJI, Iowa -- The newly remodeled Terrace Park Beach and the Alex Danbom Memorial Park opened this spring after flooding slowed down progress. The refresh was completed over the last year. The project was originally set to be completed last summer but was delayed due to flooding.

SOUTH SIOUX CITY — The alternative high school program for South Sioux City Schools is on the move. The Gateway to Learning Program, an alternative school to support students who struggle in traditional school settings, will move to the College Center, 1001 College Way, this summer as part of a collaborative effort with Northeast Community College and Wayne State College.

SIOUX CITY -- The Sioux City school board voted to expel two students on Thursday, adding to the 24 students already expelled this year. The board held two separate closed sessions for the four students, identified only as students A and B. The board members voted unanimously to expel the students for the entirety of the 2025-26 school year. Behind closed doors, board members discussed each student's case before voting to approve Superintendent Rod Earleywine's recommendations of expulsion.

SIOUX CITY -- Repairs to the Union Bridge Trail and the boat ramp at Little Sioux Park due to last summer's flooding were approved Tuesday. The Woodbury County Board of Supervisors voted unanimously to fund $55,000 in repairs to the Union Bridge Trail and $65,000 to repair the boat ramp at Little Sioux Park.
