SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KCAU) — After a weekend with wildfire smoke around the area and a break from severe weather for a bit, severe chances return to Siouxland Monday afternoon and evening. There is a slight risk (level 2/5) of severe weather for areas generally near or west of US-75 with areas to the east under a marginal risk (level 1/5) of severe weather. The slight risk generally includes areas like Sheldon, Orange City, Le Mars, Sioux City, Onawa, and Tekamah and to the west.

SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KCAU) — It’s been a windy past few days in Siouxland with many seeing gusts as high as 40-50+ mph at times and Wind Advisories and High Wind Warnings issued across all of the KCAU 9 viewing area. There’s even been reports of trees being downed by the strong winds, including out in Remsen, Iowa. With that in mind, it’s important to know how to prepare and stay safe during wind events such as these. First of all, we’ll start with a quick refresher on wind alert terminology.

ORANGE CITY, Iowa (KCAU) — Relief from the summer-like stretch of heat we’ve seen the past couple of weeks has arrived, just in time for the Orange City Tulip Festival! However, we’ve traded the heat for windy, and at times, rainy conditions. The good news, rain showers are largely done with for our Thursday and we see some clearing through the remainder of the day.

SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KCAU) — After a warm, sunny, and calm few days, a chance of a few showers will be on the table for Wednesday. Due to a lot of air in place at the surface, some of this may not even reach the ground, but something we are still watching as clouds increase today. Amounts will stay light under one tenth of an inch for most. Highs today will also be a touch cooler as a result, staying in the upper 70’s and low 80’s.
