Dalham Developments has submitted a planning application to Colchester Council on May 28 to convert the former Langham Oaks School, in School Road, Langham, into 12 flats and six homes. Documents say the building was originally constructed in 1888 and has been used by various organisations over the years. From 2015, the building was owned by the Seax Trust and used as the Langham Oaks school for children with special educational needs or disabilities.

Essex Highways has listed a traffic regulation order proposal for a 20mph speeding restriction to be implemented on five roads in the village. These would include Apricot Mews, Damson Close, Greengage Close, Honey Lane and Raspberry Fields. The roads are in the Nine Acres housing development. The restriction will be in place for the entirety of each road except Honey Lane which will start from a point 18m north of its junction with the Factory Hill roundabout.

School uniform changes incoming - Honywood School in Coggeshall (Image: Google Maps) SKIRTS will be banned from being worn by pupils at a Coggeshall secondary school, parents were told this week. Honywood School, in Westfield Drive, is making changes to its school uniform policy from September to be “more inclusive”. But in a letter sent to parents on Monday - seen by the Gazette - the school also states the step is in response to pupils wearing the skirts incorrectly.

Essex Police received a call from the public on April 15 about suspicious activity at a premises in Halsted. Officers attended the scene and seized around 500 cannabis plants. Two men were caught by officers fleeing from the cannabis grow. Fisnik Hoxha, 33, and Fatlind Imeraj, 23, appeared at Chelmsford Crown Court on 28 May and have both been sentenced to six months in prison after previously admitting to the cultivation of cannabis.
