Tonneli Gruetter used to work out of a Chevy Express van, hauling tools and supplies on the Whidbey Island dahlia farm she runs with her mom. "On a regular basis, we'd be loading heavy tables and buckets and doing a lot of setup, pop up tents, all these different things,” Gruetter told KUOW. “It was very, very physical, and it was hard on us." They needed a change. That's when Gruetter discovered kei trucks, tiny Japanese pickups that have a very small cab but with a large bed in the back.

They’re tiny, they’re bright red, and you’ve probably seen them scooting around Seattle: Mini Japanese firetrucks known as kei trucks. People here say they not only love the cars — but the culture surrounding them, too. We all know that a walk outside is good for the mind and body. But what about a 20-mile stroll down the entire isthmus of Seattle? A local walking enthusiast has one planned for Saturday. In 2023, Holden Minor Ringer went for a stroll. Leaving from La Push, Washington, Ringer headed east — and kept going all the way to the other side of the country. Twenty states, more than 400 days, and about 4,500 miles later, Ringer ended up in Fairhaven, Connecticut.

Tires screech. Thick clouds of white smoke fill the air. The crowd roars with delight. This is DriftCon, a competitive car drifting event at Evergreen Speedway in Monroe, Washington. Dario Retych, 22, sits in the driver’s seat of his 1989 Nissan 240sx, a black and neon blue sports car that’s low to the ground. He wears a matching helmet, his gloved fingers drumming on the steering wheel.
