PITTSBURGH, Pa. (WKBN) – Noah Hiles of The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette is reporting that the Pittsburgh Pirates have acquired catcher Brett Sullivan in a trade with the San Diego Padres. In exchange, San Diego receives outfielder Bryce Johnson and cash considerations. Pittsburgh is in need of catching depth after Endy Rodriguez was placed on the 10-day injured list on Tuesday with a right finger laceration. Sullivan has seen Major League action with San Diego in each of the last two seasons.

CAMPBELL, Ohio (WKBN) – Four standout student athletes from Campbell Memorial High School officially signed to continue their careers in the college ranks. A signing ceremony was held at the high school on Wednesday. A trio of Red Devil basketball players have committed to play at Butler Community College including Josue Rodriguez, Jared Colon, and Teyon Harris. Rodriguez finished his career at Campbell as a 1,000 point scorer, averaging 24.8 points per game his senior season.

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WKBN) – The Ohio High School Softball Coaches Association released the latest coaches poll for the 2025 season on Wednesday. Six local teams cracked the top ten in their respective divisions. Defending state champion Austintown Fitch is the top-ranked team in Division I. Fellow defending state champion Canfield is ranked fourth in Division III, while Boardman is tied for eighth. In Division V, Champion is ranked No. 4 while South Range is No. 6.
Pittsburgh Penguins defenseman Kris Letang undergoes heart surgery

PITTSBURGH (WKBN) — Pittsburgh Penguins defenseman Kris Letang underwent successful heart surgery, President of Hockey Operations Kyle Dubas announced on Wednesday. The surgery was performed to repair a small hole in his heart, and was performed at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital. According to the team, the expected recovery time for Letang is four to six weeks. Letang previously suffered two strokes during his career in both 2014 and 2022.

Cleveland will have home court advantage throughout the Eastern Conference playoffs thanks to earning the No. 1 seed during the regular season. Pittsburgh Steelers sign veteran Max Scharping to add offensive line depth

PITTSBURGH (WKBN) — The Pittsburgh Steelers have officially signed guard Max Scharping to a free agent contract. The signing is listed on the NFL transaction wire. He signed with Pittsburgh last October off the practice squad of the Washington Commanders. The veteran appeared in two games with the Steelers. Scharping is entering his seventh season in the NFL. Prior to his time in Pittsburgh, Sharping played two seasons with the Cincinnati Bengals, appearing in 31 games.
Columbiana High School senior Aidan Radcliffe set to play at the next level

COLUMBIANA, Ohio (WKBN) – Columbiana senior Aidan Radcliff has officially signed his letter of intent to continue his academic and soccer career at Lake Erie College. A signing ceremony was held at Columbiana High School on Tuesday. Lake Erie College is an NCAA Division II college located in Painesville, Ohio. According to Maxpreps, Radcliffe finished with 19 goals and 12 assists for the Clippers last season.
Pittsburgh Steelers host Ohio State 1,000-yard rusher TreVeyon Henderson on visit

PITTSBURGH, Pa. (WKBN) – Ohio State running back TreyVeon Henderson made a pre-draft visit to the Pittsburgh Steelers on Tuesday. Henderson rushed for 1,016 yards last season, helping the Buckeyes win the CFP National Championship. He averaged 7.1 yards per carry, with 10 touchdowns. In addition, he caught 27 passes for 284 yards and a score. The Steelers currently have Jaylen Warren returning to the backfield. They also signed Kenneth Gainwell to a one-year free agent deal back in March.
