Levy expected to pass for Finley School DistrictFinley, WA- — While there are still votes left to count, it appears the Finley School District replacement levy will pass. As of the first count from the special election, there are 'yes' votes on nearly two thirds of the counted ballots so far, even though it only needs a simple majority to pass. Without the levy, school leaders were worried steep cuts might be necessary. Because of these positive first results, it's been an exciting day for Finley.

Fire quickly put out at a Finley Rail Services propertyTri-Cities, WA- — On April 21, 2025 around 12:50 p.m., Benton County Fire District #1 and Kennewick Fire Department responded to a fire at Greenbrier Rail Services in Finley, WA. The fire was inside an external blasting bin, which is a collection area for sand and other debris during sand blasting operations. A few filters burned along with some minor damage to the blast bin.

Real ID enforcement beginning May 7

As a reminder, travelers will need to have a Real ID compliant driver's license beginning on May 7, 2025. The Real ID Act will be enforced that day, meaning every passenger 18 years and older must present a Real ID, or another form of identification. Those other forms may be a valid U.S. passport, or a military ID. Passengers who do not have their Real ID will be pulled aside for additional screening.
