MARIETTA, Ohio (WTAP) - Workers in Marietta are about midway through construction on the city’s new water treatment plant. Mayor Josh Schlicher said work on the project has been mostly smooth and consistent since they broke ground in late 2023. The new plant will use a reverse osmosis process to treat drinking water, replacing the city’s old lime and soda ash treatment system.

PARKERSBURG, W.Va. (WTAP) - A Parkersburg homeless shelter has found its footing in a new location that’s allowing the organization to better serve the community’s most vulnerable residents. House to Home relocated last year to 825 7th St., formerly Paul’s TV Service, a more centralized location in Parkersburg from their former offices on 8th St. downtown. According to Director Stephen Belisky, the move has made a significant difference in their operations.

The Kids Count Data Book, released annually by the Annie E. Casey Foundation, tracks children’s health, education, economic security and family stability across the nation. The latest numbers have West Virginia ranked 41st overall--a slight improvement over previous years.
