The Talladega Civil Service Board approved changes to several job descriptions and a likely merging of two existing departments Wednesday afternoon during their regular monthly meeting. Board Chairman Paul Chatman and Board members Travis Ford and Will Twymon voted in favor of the proposed changes, with board member Victor Wilson voting no. It's been half a century. The Talladega High School Class of 1975 will be celebrating their 50th reunion the first weekend in June. Festivities kick off Friday, June 6, from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. with a "chat and chew" in the THS Cafeteria featuring refreshments and a tour of the school, accompanied by some of the teachers from that era. The staff at the Talladega Post Office collected 1,200 pounds of non-perishable food left by Talladega residents near their mailboxes Saturday. Donations were distributed on Monday to the Red Door Kitchen and Samaritan House in Talladega and the Alpine Healing Center in Alpine. This year's haul did not break any records, at least partially because of the rainy weather on Saturday, but donations continued coming in Monday morning, before they were distributed.
